Here's Why Cincinnati Makes for the Ideal Father's Day Trip

With Father's Day 2021 falling on June 20, you’re probably trying to think of a unique gift you can get for your dad. While handy tools and cool gadgets are a surefire hit with most fathers, spending time together is the best present of all.

Father’s Day trips are a great way to get in some quality time with your dad and enjoy the sights and sounds of another city. As the Queen City of the Midwest, Cincinnati has everything you need for a fun weekend with your dad, no matter his hobbies and interests. Read to find out why Cincinnati makes the ideal Father’s Day trip so you can get planning!

See Dad’s Favorite Sports

If your dad loves sports, he’s in for a treat in Cincinnati. We’re home to The Cincinnati Reds at The Great American Ballpark and The Cincinnati Bengals at Paul Brown Stadium.

Even though the football season hasn’t started yet, you can still get your fill of sports during your Father’s Day trip. Visit the Root the Reds Home Museum to learn more about the baseball team’s 200-year history, before catching the game against the Padres at a local sports bar.

Hoping to see some live sports? FC Cincinnati will be playing the Colorado Rapids at TQL Stadium on June 19 for some serious soccer fun!

Check Out the Local Breweries

The Queen City is well-known for its local brewery scene. With more than 50 breweries to choose from, any beer-loving dad is sure to love a Father’s Day trip to Cincinnati!

Most of the tap rooms offer their own special craft beers and creations. Look out for breweries with food, games, and comfortable seating so you can relax, unwind, and catch up with your dad.

Cross the State Border for a Bourbon Tasting

Cincinnati has its fair share of great watering holes, but why not take advantage of its convenient location, too? Just a hop, skip, and a jump from Kentucky, you can easily spend the day sampling some of the best bourbons around.

The Kentucky Bourbon Trail includes world-renowned distilleries, such as Maker’s Mark and Wild Turkey. Pick your dad’s favorite brand and take him for a tasting, or extend your Father’s Day trip so you can visit all the Bluegrass region.

Get Out on the Water

Located right on the river, Cincinnati provides plenty of opportunities to spend time by the water. As well as checking out all the city’s famous footbridges, make sure you try a boat ride too.

BB Riverboats has both a Father’s Day 2021 brunch and dinner cruise. This is the perfect way to discover Cincinnati from another angle and try some of the delicious cuisine our city has to offer!

Indulge Dad’s Hobbies and Interests

One of the best ways to bond with your dad is to learn more about his hobbies and interests. Cincinnati has an entire Museum Center at Union Terminal, so it’s easy to plan a Father’s Day trip that even younger members of the family can enjoy.

If your dad has always been interested in outer space, don’t miss the Aerospace Museum. History buffs will learn a bunch about Cincinnati at the immersive History Museum, while the Museum of Natural History and Science is a must for any dad into dinosaurs. The Museum Center itself is also a national landmark and former train station!

Does your dad love gardening or keeping pets? A visit to Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden will be appreciated by any dad who enjoys fauna and flora. This is also a great activity if you’re bringing the whole family on your Father’s Day trip.

Enjoy the Outdoors

If your dad is the outdoorsy type, you might not think a Father’s Day trip to the city would be the best idea. That’s where you're wrong. Cincinnati has all the creature comforts of a modern city, but with all the green spaces and fresh air anyone could ever want.

Within the city, there are a huge number of parks to visit. Stroll around Washington Park, Eden Park, and Ault Park as you chat with your dad. For some extra greenery and outdoor activities, don’t miss a trip to Winton Woods. This park has 2,555 acres of nature and walking trails. You can also go fishing or play a round of golf together. Don’t forget to bring a picnic so you can sit outside and enjoy the summer vibes!

Visit Hard Rock Cincinnati
