A Brief History of Cincinnati
In 1788, Colonel Robert Patterson arrived at the 747 acres of land opposite the Lucking River. This settlement was named Losantiville before being renamed Cincinnati in 1790 by the first Governor of the Northwest Territory.
Cincinnati experienced rapid growth and prosperity within a short period of time. The city also became famous for its beautiful scenery and rich culture. For all these reasons, Cincinnati earned the nicknames “Queen City” and “Queen of the West,” which have been widely used since around 1820.
The city has continued to flourish over the last 200 years. As a national transportation hub, retail hotspot, and center of culture, the Queen City is easy to visit and always worth the trip!
